Woman tries to sell her two kids via Facebook for $4000.
Just in case you ever wondered: it is still illegal to sell your kids. They may drive you nuts sometimes, but putting them up on Facebook or Craigslist is not ok.
I suppose Misty VanHorn, mother of two from Oklahoma, wishes she got that memo before landing in prison on a $40,000 bond.
The 22-year old “mother” was arrested for offering her 10-month-old girl for $1000. She tried selling a package deal including her 2-year-old child for $4000.
According to a police report, Van Horn contacted a woman who lived 30 minutes away, to offer her youngest child. She sent her a Facebook message saying: “Just come to Sallisaw, it’s only 30 minutes away and I’ll give you all her stuff and let y’all have her forever for $1000.”
The woman, who has not been named, contacted the local Department of Human Services, who notified the police.
Neighbours of VanHorn said she had been asking for money to help get her boyfriend out of jail. She needed $1000 to bail him out. “She was going door to door, here to all the way across town, asking everybody for money to get him out” said one of the neighbours.
State took the custody of the children.
